Ava – Optician Apprentice

Ava wears many hats in our office and has been our own Swiss Army knife.  Under the guidance of our Licensed Optician Shane’s experience and Dr. Baker’s leadership, Ava is an Optician Apprentice working towards her own licensure.  This process includes several thousand hours of hands-on experience, classroom education, and passage of her board examinations.  Luckily, she’s intelligent, resourceful, and showing incredible skill early in her career.

She is also a tremendous asset providing clinical services as well, as our secondary patient care assistant and helping answer phones too.  There isn’t a facet of the office she can’t handle!

Ava grew up in Chardon and currently lives in Painesville Township.  She’s a voracious reader, loves a good country music concert, and uses space heaters in July.

Shane – Licensed Optician

With 30 years of knowledge and experience, Shane offers a level of expertise unique to our office.  Between his technical knowledge of ophthalmic lens designs and understanding of available lens improvements and treatments, his simple goal is to help everyone see their best out of their new glasses prescription.  Most importantly, Shane only recommends what can truly make a difference– nothing unnecessary.

Shane has shown incredible attention to detail and with a quality-control standard above industry standard, ensures your prescription glasses are made to exact specifications and function exactly how you need.

Serving patients in eyecare is a household theme for Shane and his wife Melissa, a certified ophthalmic medical technologist.  They live in Painesville Township, closing in on an empty nest as his youngest of three sons is nearing the end of his high school career.
